DESIGNER PROFILE
(Scroll down for full text)

Backing a superior creative sense with 16 years of experience in the design/build industry, Leslie-jon offers the invaluable combination of design skill and construction know-how—leading her clients through projects of all scope and complexity with sensitivity, humor and professionalism.

First a fine-arts major, Leslie-jon ultimately gave in to her love of construction--completing the Building Construction/Architecture program at Dean College in 1993. Her first years in the industry were spent in the field, initially a site supervisor, project coordinator and ultimately project manager.

ON BECOMING A DESIGNER:
“After several years as a project manager in both new home construction and remodeling, I practically fell into the design aspect. So many times a design is created with complete disregard to feasibility, mechanical demands or a client’s functional needs. By becoming a designer, I was able to address each of these elements for a client, create a beautiful space, as well as keep a project running more smoothly.”

DEVELOPING A STYLE:
“Often I am asked to define my style as a designer. Let's think about that--imposing my style over that of my clients’ truly isn’t in their best interest, it is merely creating an ‘ode to self." What I would do in my own home is probably very different from what my client would want or need. So whether the design reflects modern or classical aesthetic, I strive for functionality in a timeless setting: the design must stand on its own for many, many years--integrating seamlessly with the home while implementing materials to their optimum performance and aesthetic contribution… and, most importantly, serving those who live in the space beyond their expectations.”
